I do understand that the higher floors are either not renovated or currently under renovation. The room was comfortable and clean and totally acceptable for the cost. We stayed on the 8th floor in a renovated room. You are not going to get personal, concierge-level treatment. That being said, it's important to just temper your expectations. The Showboat is an older hotel right on the boardwalk in a struggling city. I also travel for business so I have some familiarity with hotels. We have been to nearly every indoor water park across the northeast. We wanted to check out the new indoor water park and arcade for our daughter's 12th birthday. We read 100 reviews before we booked this trip, and my wife was less-than-optimistic as many were as bad as 'stay away' and 'worst hotel ever.' I am glad we took the risk and went for it.
